Paul Morris is best known as an Australian racing driver and team owner but there is a lesser-known aspect of his career.

At Norwell, on the Gold Coast, is the Norwell Motorplex, which is owned by Paul Morris. It is home to a defensive driving school, and the official V8 Supercar driving experience as endorsed by V8 Supercar management.

While V8 Supercars have announced a change of name and format to Australia’s favourite motorsport category, there is little likelihood of it having any impact on Paul Morris, or the Norwell Motorplex.

Having started his career at the age of 19, Paul Morris has gone on to carve out a successful CV in Australian motorsport, including winning four super touring championship titles.

Paul Morris has competed full time in V8 Supercars in both the main game and the development series, and has a number of podium finishes to prove it, including victory at the famous Bathurst 1000 in 2014.

While his racing career has made his name, Paul Morris has used his success to carve out a business that caters to the most passionate of race fans, with the chance to ride in, or drive, a V8 Supercar, as well as providing a range of defensive driving school courses.

The Norwell Motorplex first opened in 1990 as a partnership between racing legend Frank Gardner, and the father of Paul Morris – Terry Morris – who is a highly successful Queensland businessman.

Previously known as the Holden Driving Centre and more recently the Performance Driving Centre, because of its original reason for being, the $8million facility that Paul Morris and his father own was designed to help drivers learn to really drive.

The centre offers a highly regarded range of driving courses, taught by professional instructors hand-picked by Paul Morris, but it’s possible that its biggest drawcard is the V8 Supercars Official Driving Experience, which makes it possible for anyone to experience a true V8 Supercar.

Die-hard race fans can book with the Paul Morris facility for the chance to drive their choice of V8 Supercar on the 2.1km long Norwell Motorplex race circuit – or ride as a passenger with one of the team of professional race drivers on staff.

Would-be race drivers can choose to have their experience in either a Ford or a Holden, with all cars prepared by Paul Morris’ own team of race mechanics.

Nothing stirs the soul more than a driving session on a racetrack and Paul Morris gives thrill seekers the chance to live their dreams with one of the packages on offer at Norwell Motorplex.

A day spent at the Norwell Motorplex is an investment in improved driving skills and attitudes. Increased knowledge from that investment will make you a safer driver.
