LEARN THE THEORY

This full day program includes both classroom and practical training. It is a great way for drivers of all ages and skill levels to improve their driving skills and prepare for unexpected situations in the city, on the highway or out on the open road.

Our advanced driver training course provides drivers with the skills and knowledge to drive safely and confidently in a variety of challenging conditions. This can lead to a significant reduction in accidents, injuries, and fatalities on the road.

LEARN TO RECOVER SAFELY

The Norwell Defensive Driver Training Program equips trainees with the proper techniques for safely regaining control of the vehicle when it begins to slide out of control. By learning how to safely recover from a skid, drivers can avoid accidents and stay safe on the road.

Our trainees get hands-on experience practising the different recovery techniques in a controlled environment on our purpose-built skid pan. This can help drivers develop the muscle memory and reflexes necessary to react quickly and effectively in a real-world skid situation.

THE QUEENSLAND POLICE AND NORWELL MOTORPLEX HAVE PARTNERED TO PRESENT LEARNER DRIVER DAY

The first experience with emergency service vehicles can be very intimidating and confusing for any driver on our roads, especially our learner drivers.

To help break the ice, Norwell Motorplex and QLD Police have created the Learner Driver Day where learners get the opportunity to drive with supervisors in their own cars around Norwell’s 2.1km track. Sessions are held one Sunday every month.

This course includes both theoretical and practical training on defensive driving, skid control, emergency braking, safe following distances, evasive lane change and recovery, off-road 4WD training, and understanding the biomechanics of driving and steering technique. Participants also receive training on ABS and threshold braking, and practice recovery techniques in a controlled environment on our purpose-built skid pan.

The course is designed for drivers of all skill levels and ages, from learners (L) and provisional (P) license holders to drivers with full licenses. International license holders are also welcome. The training caters to individual learning needs, with a low participant ratio of 3 students per instructor.

The training focuses on enhancing driving abilities and safety. Participants learn how to safely regain control of a vehicle if it begins to skid or slide. This hands-on experience helps develop the muscle memory and reflexes necessary to react quickly in real-world situations, leading to a significant reduction in potential accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

Recently visited Norwell for a drive, staff were excellent, very helpful & polite. Had a young man by the name of Max Geoghegan who was my instructor in the vehicle. Could not fault Max at all. His instructions were clear & helpful making my experience even more enjoyable than I anticipated. What stood out for me with Max was his professionalism & trust with people driving. Max, Thank you for a great experience & hopefully one day do it again with you.

I purchased this experience for my partners birthday, and wasn’t quite sure what to expected. It was the best experience possible! The staff were 10/10! I ended up purchasing driving laps for myself and an additional 7 for my partner. The young girl at the front desk was so super accommodating and dalton who took us both out for the laps was amazing. Im so glad he got me go faster than I was cause I definitely had it in me!

A very professional operation. I had 7 laps and 2 hot laps. Nash was my driver. He was great making you feel at ease during the whole driving experience. Loved every minute of the experience.
